PRIORITIES FOR
CALIFORNIA
LETTING TAXPAYERS KEEP THEIR OWN HARD-EARNED MONEY

Tony Strickland has always been a champion for California taxpayers.
He's authored a bill to eliminate the gas tax (SB 94), and has always protected Proposition 13 from constant attempts to undermine California's landmark cap on property taxes.
And just this year, Senator Strickland helped reduce property taxes for disabled veterans (SB 296). And he worked to make homes' solar energy systems tax permanently deductible (SB 710).
Such consistent advocacy for California taxpayers is how Senator Strickland has earned a lifetime "A" rating from the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association.
CUTTING WASTE, LOWERING COSTS, AND INCREASING ACCOUNTABILITY

Senator Strickland has been working to lower costs, cut waste, and increase accountability from unelected government bodies who continuously make it more expensive to live in California.
A longtime opponent of the wasteful High Speed Rail project, Senator Strickland has consistently pushed to defund the project and save billions for California taxpayers. Most recently, the Senator sought to use High Speed Rail funds to pay for statewide road repairs, allowing for the elimination of the gas tax.
Senator Strickland knows that reducing the gas tax would bring down transportation costs, and in doing so bring down costs on things from groceries to everyday items people buy.
In addition, Senator Strickland sought to prohibit unelected state agencies from taking final action to adopt major regulations with major fiscal impacts without getting legislative approval (SB 885), aiming to restore accountability and reducing costs passed onto Californians.
KEEPING COMMUNITIES SAFE & SUPPORTING PUBLIC SAFETY

While a supermajority of voters demanded increases in important public safety funding and enforcement when they passed Proposition 36, Sacramento continues to deny critical funding. Senator Tony Strickland has been among California's leading voices on the need to fully fund Proposition 36.
In addition, Senator Strickland continues to work with public safety leaders like Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes to author legislation protecting children from online extortion (SB 1015).
That's why Senator Strickland is supported by Police Officers, Firefighters, Sheriff Deputies, Highway Patrolmen, and Crime Victims' Advocates.
LEADING THE WAY FOR ELECTION INTEGRITY

Senator Tony Strickland is Co-Author of the California Voter ID initiative, which is on its way to appearing on the November ballot. He believes election integrity starts with ensuring only those eligible to vote are casting ballots.
By ensuring even mail-in voters are able to provide the last four digits of a government ID, the California Voter ID initiative aims to make ongoing elections easy to vote, and hard to cheat.
